Lori's artistic world has been one of observance and exploration. She has been a professional cellist for most of her life while at the same time always enjoying the visual arts.

She has been drawing for as long as she can remember and has experimented with watercolors for almost as long. In the last few years Lori has become very interested in painting as a means of conveying color, tone and movement much as music does. Her work has involved much experimentation with various mediums, papers, techniques etc..

She has found that using egg tempera primarily and adding a small amount of plain gelatin to her water has given the possibility of creating subtle color changes yet also rich depth by being able to build wash upon wash of opaque layers of color. Working in both music and art equally has given Lori a wonderful sense of connection between the two.

She has truly come to realize that both forms of expression share many commonalities, even the words used to describe are the same i.e. rhythm, color, tone ect. She has felt that drawing color across the page with a brush is very similar to drawing a bow across a string creating different colors in sound.

Up to this point her music has been the shared expression, while her work with the visual arts has been her own. She has come to realize that now is a good time for her to start sharing this form of expression as well. In the last year Lori has been fortunate enough to have signed on with a publishing company and also have been able to get her art cards into various stores with the help of a card rep.

She has been invited to participate in several wonderful art events, Gresham Artwalk, Hughes Waterlily Festival among others. Lori participated in the Audubon Wild Arts Festival this past November and will be a part of this years Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts. Her hope for this art is that it will create moments of quiet reflection in appreciation of our natural world.
