In 1994, she was invited to lead
the Artistic Council for the Foundation of Culture and Art of
the State of Alagoas, which helped catapult the state to the
cultural forefront of Brazil.
Despite her public involvement, Ana Maia never stopped researching,
creating and producing in her atelier while continuing her cultural
endeavors. And from this richness, added to the brightness of
her tropical land, she illuminates the landscape with hand painted
lamps -- her principal art form. Through this medium, she always
carefully observes the relationship between her figures and
the harmony, which emanates to form a creative, infinite freedom.
Ana Maia participates extensively in expositions throughout
the world. Her work has been commissioned by the most recognized
galleries in the United States, Canada, Europe and, of course,
in her native Brazil. Among her most prestigious expositions
were "Maison et Object" in Paris and the "L'artigiano in Fiera"
in Milan, Italy in which her work was give a place of honor.
